U-Dig Potatoes

We have several unique varieties of potatoes and we'd like to share them with you!

This fall, we are opening up the potato patch to the public.  Make an appointment and come dig your own!  Or, if you are not able to dig your own, let us dig up a special order for you.

Potato Varieties

Alta Blush

Reddish-brown skin and white flesh with a creamy texture.

Good for boiling, baking, roasting, or use in salads.  Stores well.

 

AmaRosa

Red or pink skin and flesh.  This is a fingerling variety.

Good for baking, roasting, and grilling.  Also make colourful chips.

 

Bintje

Pale yellow skin and flesh with a dry texture.

Good for boiling, baking, and making French fries and potato chips.  Stores well.

 

Blue Potatoes

We have a mix of All Blue and Russian Blue potatoes.  Each has deep purple skin and blue flesh with excellent taste.

Good for baking, hashbrowns, frying, roasting, mashing, or grilling.  Can also be steamed or boiled.

Caribe

Purple skin and white flesh.

Good for boiling, baking, steaming, frying.  Makes wonderful mashed potatoes.  Excellent storage.

French Fingerling

Red skin and yellow flesh.  Creamy texture with excellent flavor.

Good for boiling, steaming, baking, and roasting.

German Butterball

A customer favourite, this potato has a tender, yellow flesh with a buttery flavor.

Good for steaming, baking frying, roasting, and mashing.  Also good in soups.

Gold Rush

This is a variety of russet with brown skin, white flesh and good taste.

Good for mashing and baking, and for use in stews, and perogies.

Irish Cobbler

Tan skin and white flesh.  Flesh is dry and creamy.

Good for boiling, baking, and mashing or for use in potato salad or soup.

 

Kennebec

Pale yellow skin and white flesh.  Flesh is firm and starchy.

Best for frying (hashbrowns, French fries, chips, etc.).  Also good for baking, mashing, roasting, and use in salads and stews.  Stores well.

Norland

Red skin and white flesh with a "rich earth potato flavor" (according to smartgardener.com).

Good for boiling and for making salads, French fries, and potato chips.  Stores well.

 

Rode Eersteling

Red skin and light yellow flesh with excellent taste and low starch content.

Good for boiling, roasting, and frying, but do not overcook.

We'll dig and bag the potatoes for you.  Contact us to make an order.

Prices:

U-Dig - $1.00/lb

Special Order (we dig) - $1.50/lb

Mesh bags for storage - $1.00/bag

Potato fork rental - $5.00/day

Delivery and Pick-Up Options:

When you contact us for special potato order, we will work with you to find the best delivery or pick-up option.  Customers are welcome to pick up at the farm (by appointment only).  We will deliver to Barrhead for free.  Deliveries to other municipalities may be available, but will be subject to a delivery fee.
